How the links work

Every product link on this site points at a path on our own domain that begins /go/. That path looks up the merchant in a configuration file, adds our tracking tag, and forwards you to the retailer. There is no raw tagged retailer URL anywhere in the page source.

The reason for the indirection is not tracking, it is maintenance: if a product moves, or a better program becomes available, the destination is a one-line change in a config file rather than an edit to every page that mentions it. Outbound commercial links carry rel="sponsored nofollow noopener", in line with Google’s link-spam policy.

Who we earn from

Currently, one merchant:

• Amazon — Amazon Associates, tracking ID winterperch-20. We earn a percentage of qualifying purchases, which varies by product category.

Amazon is our default retailer and, at the moment, our only earning one. That is the normal state of a new publisher: affiliate networks approve sites over time, and we have not joined any others yet. Where a brand-direct store is a genuinely better option for a buyer — better price, better stock, better warranty — we will link it even though we earn nothing from it. Buyer-first beats commission, always.

These retailers appear on the site as reference links. We earn nothing from any of them:

• Brome Bird Care — reference only, no commercial relationship.
• Coveside Conservation Products — reference only, no commercial relationship.
• Erva Tool & Die — reference only, no commercial relationship.

What the commission does not buy

• It does not buy a ranking. A pick changes when specifications, price or availability change. It has never changed, and will never change, because of a commission rate.
• It does not buy silence. Every product on this site carries a skip it if line, and every roundup names at least one product we would not buy.
• No brand can pay for a placement here. We accept no sponsored content, no paid inclusion and no advertising.
• We accept no free products. We are given nothing, so there is nothing to feel obliged about.

Prices

Prices shown on this site come from a live data layer refreshed daily, and are stamped with the date they were verified. Anything older than 48 hours is hidden automatically and the page falls back to “Check price”.

We never print a remembered or estimated price. Retailer prices change constantly, and the price you see at checkout is the one that counts — always confirm on the retailer’s own page before buying.

What we are not

We are not a retailer. We do not hold stock, take payment, ship anything or handle returns. Every purchase is a transaction between you and the retailer, under their terms, and any problem with an order is theirs to resolve.

We also do not test the products we recommend, and we say so on every page. What we do instead is published in full.
