What this site is
Winter Perch publishes editorial content about winter birding equipment and practice. It is published by Slate Mill Group.
We are not a retailer. We hold no stock, take no payment, ship nothing and process no returns. Every purchase you make after following a link from this site is a transaction between you and that retailer, on their terms.
Accuracy, and its limits
We take accuracy seriously and our method is published in full. Every specification is read from a manufacturer’s own listing and cited, every computed figure shows its working, and prices come from a live data layer rather than memory.
Even so, the content is provided as-is and without warranty. Manufacturers change specifications, retailers change prices, listings get edited, and products get discontinued. Always confirm the specification and the price on the retailer’s own page before you buy. If you find something wrong here, please tell us and we will correct it in place with a dated note.
Not professional advice
- Electrical work. This site describes outdoor electrical safety practice in general terms — GFCI protection, outdoor-rated cords, drip loops. It is not a substitute for a qualified electrician, and any wiring work should be done by one, to your local code.
- Wildlife. We are not veterinarians or wildlife rehabilitators. For an injured or sick bird, contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator or your state wildlife agency.
- Legal. Regulations on feeding and housing wildlife vary by state and by locality. Check your own.

The text, layout and original tables on this site are ours. You may quote reasonable extracts with attribution and a link. Wholesale reproduction, scraping for republication, or using this content to train a commercial dataset that reproduces it verbatim is not permitted.
Product images are supplied by the retailer’s own content delivery network and remain the property of their respective owners. Editorial photography is licensed stock. Product names and trademarks belong to their owners and are used descriptively; their appearance here does not imply any endorsement of this site by them, or of them by this site beyond what we write.

We link to retailers, manufacturers and organizations such as the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the US Energy Information Administration. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their availability or their privacy practices.
